Orthopaedic & Sports Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

There are many tools in a physiotherapist’s skillset that they can utilize to provide the best evidence-based care possible to every patient.

Most of our therapists have undergone post-university training in manual therapy provided by the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and other recognized post-graduate education courses. This training, coupled with additional professional development courses, equips our therapists to deliver personalized 'hands-on' joint and soft tissue mobilization and manipulation techniques. The specific techniques employed depend on your condition, ensuring individualized treatment. Manual physiotherapy techniques are widely recognized as integral components of a thorough and effective physiotherapy treatment plan.

Typically, orthopaedic injuries result from repeated movement patterns or isolated incidents, causing pain, inflammation, stiffness, weakness, and tissue damage. Pain relief is just one step to recovery. We also aim to restore joint mobility and range of motion through manual mobilizations and therapeutic exercises and enhance strength, stability and conditioning. Our approach fosters a healing environment, treating each patient uniquely, in a way that is meaningful to that patient. We address the injury's root cause, working to prevent recurrence. Treating the cause and not just the pain symptom, will ensure meaningful recovery.

Pre and Post-Surgical Rehabilitation:

Covering diverse orthopaedic surgeries, including joint replacements and reconstructions, we collaborate closely with surgeons for optimal outcomes. Treatment often starts pre-operatively to pre-habilitate injuries, ensuring maximum range of motion and strength for post-operative success.

Non-surgical Injury Rehabilitation and Sports Rehab:

HealthOne treats non-surgical and sports injuries such as tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, ligament sprains, muscle strains and shoulder rotator cuff injury & impingement. Initial evaluations with your therapist identify the root cause to your pain and identify biomechanical faults. Comprehensive treatment plans incorporate strategies to correct these faults and prevent re-occurance. Our individualized approach may incorporate sport-specific movements into therapeutic exercises, preparing the neuromuscular system for a return to sport.
